Six who made the difference in week 12

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The QNB Stars League's Week 12 fixtures, held over Thursday, Friday and Saturday, saw fierce competition among the teams in order to make a headway at the start of tournament's second phase. And there were many outstanding individual performances. QSL Online highlights some of the stars.

Youssef El Arabi (Al Duhail)
Moroccan striker Youssef El Arabi yet again showed his brilliance by netting a hat-trick in Al Duhail's 6-0 win over Qatar SC. In the process, he took his tally to 19 goals on top of the scorers' chart. At this rate, he is all set to emulate his last season's top-scorer record of 24 goals sooner rather than later. His captain Youssef Msakni scored two goals and Mohammed Mousa the other.

Oussama Darragi (Umm Salal)
Tunisian attacking midfielder Oussama Darragi straightaway impressed on his debut in Qatar when he contributed a brace to Umm Salal's 3-1 victory over Al Kharaitiyat. The tall player, signed for one-and-a-half seasons from Club Africain, had a remarkable career with his native side Esperance. The win helped The Orange Fortress close the gap with fourth-placed Al Sailiya to one point.

Ahmed Alaeldin (Al Gharafa)
Ahmed Alaeldin netted Al Gharafa's both goals in their come-from-behind victory over Al Ahli. The youngster stole the show in the match that was special for many reasons, especially because Dutch star Wesley Sneijder made his debut in Qatar with Al Gharafa. Ahmed yet again proved that he is a bundle of talent and energy as he upstaged his more illustrious team-mates.

Rodrigo Tabata (Al Rayyan)
Playmaker Rodrigo Tabata came up with a two-goal effort, including a penalty, in Al Rayyan's 3-0 win against Al Khor. Mohsine Moutaouali scored the opening goal. As always, Tabata was the livewire among The Kings ranks. the result saw Al Rayyan move level with Al Sadd on 28 points, but still stood in the third place as they lagged behind in goal difference.

Ahmed Fathi (Al Arabi)
Ahmed Fathi had an outstanding game in Al Arabi's 1-1 draw with fourth-placed Al Sailiya. He orchestrated their moves in the midfield and showed a great level despite missing many team training sessions during the month-long break in the QNB Stars League as he did duty for Qatar at the Gulf Cup in Kuwait. The result enabled Al Arabi to move up one position in the standings to eighth.

Bilal Mohamed (AlMarkhiya)
Al Markhiya captain Bilal Mohamed led from the front and played a prominent role as they held formidable side and 13-time league champions Al Sadd to a goalless draw. The much-experienced player held the Al Markhiya defence together against an Al Sadd attack that included many lethal players and succeeded in not conceding a single goal. The Oryxes moved up from bottom by one place too.
