Kuwait- NCCAL opens spring archaeology camp


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Jan 14 (KUNA) -- Director of Antiquities and Museums Department at the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature (NCCAL) Sultan Al-Duweish opened Sunday the first archaeology spring camp at Kuwait National Museum.

The camp aims to promote the importance of archeology as a source of the history of life, Al-Duweish said in a keynote speech during the opening ceremony.

The State of Kuwait is considered one of the ancient countries, and boasts significant historical sites, including Tal Baheetah and Bahra archaeological site, he said.

For her part, researcher at Kuwait National Museum Anoud Al-Khamees said that the camp aims to make students from the tenth and eleventh grades familiar with Kuwait's monuments and history.

Field visits will be organized for these students to various archaeological sites, she added.

The four-day camp program starts with a visit to Kuwait National Museum and the laboratory section, Baheetah Failaka, Sabbiyah sites and Kathma cultural center, she added.

This camp is part of the 24th Al-Qurain Cultural Festival, which started on January 10th and lasts until 29th of the same month.

It includes a number of scientific, theatrical, musical, training and art exhibitions. (end) hjb.amh.nhq
