More than 20 terror suspects arrested across Turkey


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, Jan 12 (KUNA) -- Turkish military and security services said at least 21 suspects were arrested during anti-terror operations across the country on Friday.

In the southeastern Sanliurfa province, a PKK terrorist was detained while attempting to illegally enter Turkey from Syria, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported, citing a statement by the Turkish General Staff.

In the central Kayseri province, 10 suspected members of the so-called Islamic State (IS or Daesh), including their co-called agriculture minister, were arrested, a security officer said.

In the Black Sea province of Samsun, 10 Iraqis were arrested during an anti-Daesh operation, according to the AA report.

More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK resumed its decades-long armed campaign in July 2015; the group is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU.

Moreover, the IS attacks claimed over 300 lives in Turkey. (end) ta.gb
