(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Education Council held its first meeting of the year under the chairmanship of H E Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court.
The meeting started with a discussion on the 'Educational Excellence Award for the Omani Teacher' presented by the Ministry of Education (MoE) based on a previous decision of the council. The move comes from the keenness of the council to improve the performance of Omani teachers and to promote and upgrade the teaching profession. The council directed MoE to proceed with appropriate measures in this regard.
The council discussed a memorandum submitted by the Ministry of Higher Education concerning a request by the University of Dhofar to open a Faculty of Law.
In line with the council's keenness to support private higher education institutions in the country and to improve the quality of academic programmes, the council approved the establishment of the faculty. The council reviewed several other reports and took decisions accordingly.
