Pence to hold meetings in Korea, Japan, Alaska


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Jan 10 (KUNA) -- In addition to leading a presidential delegation to the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, Vice President Mike Pence will participate in bilateral meetings in Seoul and Tokyo, Japan.

"The Vice President will reaffirm to the leaders of Japan and South Korea the United States' unwavering commitment to our allies and to deter and defend against the North Korean threat," a White House official said.

The talks will follow Pence's attendence of the games' opening ceremony on February 9 in Pyeongchang.

Pence will also travel to Alaska to review ballistic missile defense facilities, Deputy Chief of State to the Vice President Jarrod Agen said in a statement.
