Omani SME CEO wins young business leaders award in Dubai


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The CEO of Nafath Renewable Energy, an Omani SME, won an award for young business leaders in Dubai on Monday.

Eng Abdullah al Saidi, 28, is the proud recipient of the Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum Award for Young Business Leaders.

Nafath, a limited liability Omani company, set up by three young Omani entrepreneurs, provides complete solutions for solar and renewable energy systems, including engineering, design, supply, construction and installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

Eng Saidi was also awarded the Best Omani Entrepreneur by Riyada in 2016 together with the company's founding members, Musab al Farsi and Nasser al Jabri.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Eng Saidi said. 'We are proud to win the Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum Award for Young Business Leaders. This award is a way of recognising our work and it will be an incentive for us to continue to succeed in the field of renewable energy.'

They started the company in 2012 while studying at Sultan Qaboos University. The team now has eight Omani engineers, he said.

He added, 'The company faced a lot of challenges, including finding the necessary financial backing. Getting suitable young people interested in renewable energy on board, too was not easy. We overcame all these challenges with patience, determination and working as one team until we succeeded.

'In 2017, we were fortunate to get a strong financial partner – Oman Investment Corporation (OIC). OIC has provided us up to RO2mn, in addition to project management facilities.'

Owners of SMEs in Oman need to build their confidence and should be given ample opportunities to prove their capabilities, he said.

'I advise youth who work in this field to work hard, be patient and accept failures. You will succeed one day.'
