A 49-year-old taxi driver was arrested in Ngau Tau Kok in Kowloon on Tuesday for theft after he allegedly drove off with many bags of items bought by two women from Beijing on a shopping spree.
At 9pm on Monday, two women from Beijing, aged 38 and 43, got a taxi in Tsim Sha Tsui to a hotel in Taikoo Shing on Hong Kong Island after shopping, Headline Daily reported.

The women carried five bags of branded clothes, handbags and shoes worth around HK$70,000 (US$8,948) and put them in the boot of the taxi as the driver, surnamed Wong, offered to carry them for no luggage fee.
Upon arrival, the women got out the cab – but the driver allegedly took off with their shopping bags. The women immediately chased after the taxi but it had gone.
One of the women marked down the car's license-plate number and they reported the incident to police.
At 4:20pm on Tuesday, officers arrested the in Ngau Tau Kok and confiscated two bags of stolen items. The man was detained for further investigation, Oriental Daily reported.
