Employment prospects within the GCC to develop in 2018

(MENAFN) Hays 2018 GCC Salary and Employment Report found that regardless of major polarization in employment, 2018 is predicted to bring about development in employment prospects within the GCC.

Based on a survey of 4.250 working professionals, the report saw a 40% increase in employment in the GCC last year, compared to 39% in 2016. However, roughly a third if organizations pointed out that the size of their staff has shrunk in 2016 as well as last year.

Hays Gulf region managing director Chris Greaves "the findings are certainly indicative of what we have been seeing in the GCC employment market."

He explained "on the one hand, the continued diversification of the local economy, away from its reliance on the oil and gas sector and the increasingly globalised nature of the market have brought many opportunities to businesses in the region who are actively hiring additional staff in order to capitalise on these. On the other hand however, the sustained low energy prices and increasing competition faced by organisations operating in all sectors, have resulted in employers taking a cautious approach to recruitment."
