Kuwait speaker expresses optimism on Gulf unity


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Speaker of the Advisory Council HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud and his accompanying delegation of Advisory Council members, attended yesterday the Kuwaiti National Assembly second ordinary session.
The Kuwaiti Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq bin Ali al-Ghanim in his opening speech welcomed the GCC chairpersons and speakers of Shura, representative councils and national assemblies who attended the session, and pointed out to the social, geographic and family ties that unite the GCC citizens.
Al-Ghanim expressed optimism about Gulf re-cohesion and said the promises of the reunion began before the end of the year when the Gulf summit and the Gulf Cup were held, and now with the 11th meeting of Chairpersons and Speakers of Shura, Representative Councils and National Assemblies of the GCC, which are all optimistic steps.
At the outset of the meeting, Their Highnesses and Their Excellencies the heads took a tour of the headquarters of the Kuwaiti national assembly, where they were briefed on the various facilities and equipment.
Later, Qatar's Advisory Council Speaker and his accompanying delegation left Kuwait for Doha in the afternoon. The Speaker and the accompanying delegation were seen off upon departure at Kuwait International Airport by Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq bin Ali al-Ghanim, Charge d'Affaires at the Qatari embassy in Kuwait Ali Jabir al-Marri and members of the Qatari embassy in the State of Kuwait.
