(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) SWAT: Swat Police has launched a campaign to distribute free of cost helmets among motorcyclists as safety measure to minimise damages in traffic accidents.
District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (Retd) Wahid Mehmood told media persons on Monday that Traffic Police personnel are also distributing pamphlets among the citizens to create awareness among them about traffic rules and discipline. He said the Traffic Police is also creating awareness among motorcyclists about the importance of helmets.
The DPO said various campaigns have been launched in Swat to improve the traffic system. He said it has been observed that bike riders are often involved in traffic accidents. He said several young motorcyclists have lost their lives in accidents due to not adopting precautionary measures. He said the Traffic Police has started this campaign to minimise such losses. He said action will be taken against motorcyclists not using helmets.
Wahid Mehmood also called upon the parents not to give motorcycles to young boys.
