Man passes away of flu in Dubai


(MENAFN) After the death of a man in Dubai due to pneumonia caused by influenza, doctors are urging patients to take flu vaccinations.

The 35 year old Pakistani man was in a good shape but his condition deteriorated rapidly, Dr Mohammed Ashraf, specialist in Internal Medicine, Universal Hospital, was quoted saying to Arab news.

The patient had become unconscious on the second day in hospital, and the illness even affected his brain. "The virus can affect the lower airways and can progress into pneumonia." Ashraf said.

This season carries a rapid spread of flu cases around the world, including the UAE, where influenza type A and B are topping the doctors' charts.
