Omani cabinet touts Kuwait's compelling Gulf football event

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MUSCAT, Jan 7 (KUNA) -- The Omani cabinet Sunday spoke highly of the State of Kuwait for organizing the recent 23rd version of the Arabian Gulf Cup in an eye-catching and arresting fashion over a couple of weeks.

The cabinet said in a statement carried by Oman's state news agency ONA that the impressive way pursued by Kuwait in gearing up for, and organizing, the Gulf football championship was principally the cause of the successful event.

It, further, voiced much thanks and appreciation to Kuwait for properly taking care of Omani fans who were injured in a stampede following the Oman-UAE final.

Oman on Friday beat the UAE in a penalty shoot-out after a nil-nil draw, securing its second Arabian Gulf cup.

Following the final game, Omani fans were caught in a rush due to a glass barrier collapse at the peopled Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, leaving at least 30 people injured. (end) ma.mt
