Qatari GDP to witness growth to 2.2 percent


(MENAFN) QNB announced Qatari economy to remain flexible against the blockade; it also estimated expansion momentum to rise up within the fourth quarter leading a 2.2% annual GDP growth.

The real GDP growth was indicated by QNB's weekly economic commentary to have increased to 1.9% in the third quarter from 0.3% in the previous quarter, as cited from recent data collected by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) on Qatar's Q3 GDP.

Moreover, the hydrocarbon sector had led the accelerated rise, growing 0.2% in Q3 compared to a contraction of 3.1% in Q2, while the non-hydrocarbon sector maintained a generally steady at 3.6% in Q3 compared to 3.7% in Q2.

QNB analysts explained "overall, the economy continues to be resilient against the blockade and we expect momentum to pick up in the fourth quarter resulting in annual GDP growth of 2.2 percent in 2017."
