Celebrations mark Oman team's victorious return from Kuwait


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Thousands packed into the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex (SQSC) in Bausher on Saturday evening to catch a glimpse of the Omani national team that returned after winning the Gulf Cup in Kuwait.

The team arrived at Muscat airport aboard a special aircraft of the Royal Air Force of Oman and was received by H E Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court.

At SQSC, songs, music and traditional dance kept the audience entertained throughout the evening.

Ahmed Nabani, 40, from Seeb said, 'I arrived in the Stadium in the afternoon itself to see my heroes. I had prayed for Oman to win. It is a great moment of pride. This is jubilation time for the entire country.'

Jameel Yaqoobi, another fan said, 'It was great fun to be part of the celebrations today.'

A huge cheer went for the team as the players, coach and coaching staff entered the stadium in horse carriages with the trophy. All team members, coach and coaching staff were honoured by officials.

Salim Balushi, another fan, praised the entire team particularly the goalie Faiz al Rusheidi. 'He is the man of the hour. UAE is a strong team and it was a great match. We played hard and came out winning.'
