As many of you know, last year's National Day theme, the ‘Promise of Prosperity and Glory', was inspired by a quote by Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
It reflects the solidarity and unity experienced throughout this country at a time when the country is facing a stressful situation not of its own making which resulted in both Qatari locals and expatriates rising above the challenges and demonstrating unified support to Qatar and its leadership.
The message was that we are now even stronger as a people and as a nation. Qatar is an amazing country which has opened its arms while welcoming so many of us from around the world to this great place which we now call home. With all of this on our minds, the pressure was on to make Qatar National Day (QND) day more amazing than ever before at Vision International School (VIS).
Our plan was to include KG, Elementary, Middle & High School in an all school QND production making sure every grade level and every student felt a part of the celebration. The school was decorated with Qatari flags and pictures of the Emir, inside and out.
We erected our tent as our majilis which allowed for a wonderful place for students to visit before and after QND. The separate girls only QND performance was held later in the gym for mothers and other female family members.
The gym was decorated beautifully with balloons, banners and Qatari flags, a huge confetti spray at the end of a lovely performance was enjoyed by the girls. The girls sang and danced to traditional Qatari music, recited original poetry and truly embodied the traditions of Qatar.
