Oman- Alfa Romeo Giulia receives top accolades

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Alfa Romeo Giulia, the flagship model of the Alfa Romeo brand recently launched in Oman by Dhofar Automotive, reiterates its position as the most awarded sedan of the year by landing two more awards: Motor Trend's 2018 Car of the Year, for best representing exceptional value, superiority in its class and impact on the automotive scene as well as Car and Driver's 10 Best for 2018, which recognises the best cars on the market under US$80,000 (approximately RO30,850).

Rhett Maxwell, GM of Dhofar Automotive, said, 'The all-new Alfa Romeo Giulia reinvents the premium mid-size sedan segment with an unprecedented level of Italian craftsmanship, class-leading performance, state-of-the-art technology and a true passion for driving. Ever since its first global reveal, the car has been taking the automotive world by storm, winning award after award from across the globe.'

Motor Trend's Car of the Year programme is open to any all-new or substantially upgraded 2017 model year vehicles. Rather than being compared against one another, contending vehicles are first put through Motor Trend's full battery of performance tests to measure acceleration, braking and limit handling. All contenders are then evaluated on three separate courses at a professional automotive test centre before finalists are selected.

Out of its third-largest field ever, Motor Trend's judges narrowed the field to eight Car of the Year finalists, including the Alfa Romeo Giulia.

All 'Of the Year' contenders were selected by Motor Trend judges and evaluated against six key criteria: Advancement in design, engineering excellence, safety, efficiency, value and performance of intended function. The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia best represents these six key elements, which also characterise what consumers most want in their next vehicle.

The 10 Best nomination process from Car and Driver has three official rules: The vehicle cannot exceed an US$80,000 price tag; a sample vehicle must be available for testing by mid-September of the current calendar year and the vehicle must be on sale for the public by January of the following calendar year. Rather than limiting entries to only all-new or significantly redesigned vehicles, Car and Driver invites returning winners as eligible for its 10 Best awards, making the pool of candidates much larger.

'Each of these awards acknowledges all of the hard work, dedication and passion that went into developing the entire Giulia line-up, one that I am confident will prove to be highly successful in Oman,' added Maxwell.

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia line up comprises four trim levels: The 280hp 2l V6 powered Giulia, Super, Veloce and Quadrifoglio models. The former three models feature an all-new, all-aluminium, 2l, direct-injection turbo engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission that delivers a class-leading, standard 280hp and 306lb-ft of torque, allowing it to launch from 0-60mph (0-100kmh) in 5.1 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 149mph (240kmh).

As the line-up's 'halo' model, the Giulia Quadrifoglio, highlights Alfa Romeo's performance and motorsport knowhow with its twin-turbocharged V6 engine featuring best-in-class 505hp, 0-60mph (0-100kmh) in 3.8 seconds and a record-setting 7:32 lap time around the legendary Nürburgring, the fastest ever by a four-door production sedan.
