Qatar to take part in Khartoum Qur'an contest


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar will participate in the 9th round of Khartoum International Prize contest of Holy Qur'an, which will be held from January 9 to 13.
Qatar will be represented by Abdulaziz Ahmed Abdul Aziz Ghani, in the Holy Quran memorisation catergory (with full interpretation).
Some 73 contestants from 50 countries around the world will be taking part in this round.
Qatar's contestant Abdullah Hamad Abu Shareeda won first place in the 2016 edition of the competition.

Strong winds, high seas in offshore areas
The Qatar Met department has issued a warning for strong winds and high seas in offshore areas by this afternoon.
The wind speed (northwesterly) in these areas will range from 8-18 knots at first, going up to 28 knots by the afternoon, according to the weather office.
Slightly dusty conditions and scattered clouds are also likely offshore, while the sea level may rise to 10ft.
The minimum temperature is expected to be 13C in Al Khor and Abu Samra, while in Doha it will be 15C. Yesterday, the minimum was 11C in Abu Samra and 16C in Doha.
