KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6: Talks about 'strategic alternative' have been disappearing lately within the official circles with the emergence of a new plan to amend the salaries of state employees, reports Al-Nahar daily quoting informed sources.

They said the amendment salaries is a substitute to the strategic alternative which was not supported by the parliament, adding that the new plan is more integrated and will guarantee equality among the employees of similar qualifications and levels of experience regardless of the state institution or ministry they work at.

The sources denied that the plan will result in reduction of salaries of some employees, clarifying that the plan will ensure increase in the salaries of 60 percent of the state employees by equalizing them with their counterparts in vital state institutions.

They stressed that the plan will bring an end to the differences in allowances and benefits, indicating that the plan is expected to be finished by 2019. The sources affirmed, 'Once it is ready, it will be announced'. They added that the plan will save huge sums of money not by reducing the salaries of the current employees but by reorganizing the salaries of the new employees and limiting the benefits offered to the current employees.
