(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, recently held its fifth Mehna Café (career café) meet.
The event at MIA park coffee shop revolved around the topics of medicine and nursing and hosted two pioneers from both fields, Dr Jassim Fakhro, bariatric surgeon and a distinguished life member, World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, and Nouf al-Kawari, an operating nurse at the paediatric department at Sidra Medicine. They shared their experiences with the audience.
The two speakers shed light on their journey and dreams since their school days until their graduation ceremony and how they turned their dreams into reality.
The two recalled all the times and incidents that coincided with their careers and the lofty goals that were a vital incentive and motivation for them to become what they are now.
They also emphasised on the state's needs for qualified medical and nursing staff, and the importance of academic programmes provided by universities that enhance the role of the medical sector as one of the main contributors to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Reem al-Sowaidi, general manager, Bedaya Centre, said, 'Medicine and nursing have been the two most prominent professions throughout the ages. Both professions have a human touch instilling the meaning of compassion among people and solidarity in the community. Doctors and Nurses through their professions are able to alleviate the pain and suffering of people.
'We are honoured to host Dr Jassim Fakhro and Nouf al-Kawari, who have given a detailed explanation about their specialisations and the humanitarian role they play in this field. This in turn supports the Qatar National Vision 2030, and one of its most important pillars the 'human development, she added.
Mehna Café is a professional gathering but in an informal atmosphere where pioneers from different careers and professions get to be hosted alongside guests and audience interested in those professions. They provide a clear image about those professions which in return will give the attendees an in depth insight and support their aspirations to enter the arena of professional life.
