Oman- Over 400 attend workshop on Good Pharmacy Practice


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The 13th annual workshop on Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) was held at the Sheraton Oman Hotel on Sunday.

It was organised by the Ministry of Health (MoH) represented by the Directorate General of Pharmaceutical Affairs & Drug Control (DGPA & DC). The opening ceremony was inaugurated under the auspices of Dr Sultan Ya'rub al Busaidi, advisor for Health Affairs in MoH and the presence of the director generals of the governorates' Pharmaceutical Care and Drug Store, stated a press release.

Over 400 delegates from the sultanate's different private pharmacies attended the workshop. The opening programme began with a welcome speech delivered by Dr Mohammed Hamdan al Rubaie, director general of DGPA & DC.

Dr Rubaie highlighted the significance of the pharmaceutical sector. She said that improving and upgrading this sector ensures that the public gets safe and cost-effective medicines. The opening ceremony also focused on the eHealth Portal services provided by DGPA & DC.

The event also honoured the best pharmacists and assistant pharmacists of 2017 in addition to five best pharmaceutical establishments. Later, the patron of the event opened the exhibition of companies who showcased the latest drugs and medical supplies. The scientific programme of the workshop also included two sessions that addressed a number of significant topics such as the Antimicrobial Use as Surgical Prophylaxis in Private Hospitals, Drugs Quality Problems Reports, as well as the new policy to demonstrate the management of Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances.
