(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Omani football Association (OFA) announced on Sunday details of an initiative to support the national football team in the semifinal of the 23rd Gulf Cup being played in Kuwait.
As per the initiative, eight flights sponsored by the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), Ministry of Sports Affairs (MoSA) and Majlis A'Shura will be operated for fans, in addition to five low-cost flights by Oman Air and SalamAir.
Dr Ahmed bin Haboush al Farsi, member of OFA and head of the Omani Media Committee in the Gulf Cup, said the cost of the eight flights will be fully paid by RAFO, MoSA and Majlis A'Shura. Oman Air and SalamAir will operate the other five flights at low cost to be paid by passengers.
He added that a committee headed by Said bin Othman al Balushi, secretary general and executive director of OFA, has been formed to facilitate the procedures to support the national team in the semifinal of the Gulf Cup.
The presence of supporters at the match will provide a strong boost for the national team players to perform well in the all-important semifinal clash against Bahrain, Dr Farsi said.
