Jordan- Lower House begins budget debate

Amman, Dec. 31 (Petra)--The Lower House on Sunday started debating the 2018 draft laws for the state budget and the budgets of independent government units during a session chaired by House Speaker Atef Tarawneh and attended by Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki and cabinet members.

Speakers on behalf of each parliamentary bloc, its members and individual MPs will be given 20 minutes, seven minutes and ten minutes, respectively, to comment on the bills.

MP Abdul Min'im Al Odat spoke about the current situation in the region, adding that it was a major reason for our economic problems. He also spoke about the financial and economic policies as well as government mismanagement, stressing the need to work together to address economic and social challenges.

MP Mazen Al Qadi also called for assessing the economic situation and drafting a national economic plan to address problems and imbalances to achieve comprehensive economic and financial reforms that meet the aspirations of the next stage.

He also highlighted the need to support the Jordan Armed Forces and security agencies to enable them to preserve security and stability in the Kingdom.
