Mahaseel Festival ends on a high note at Katara


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Katara The Cultural Village concluded the activities of the second edition of Mahaseel Festival yesterday, while the Mahaseel Souq will continue on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays until March 31.
The festival had over 22 farms and six national companies displaying vegetables, fruits, dairy products, juices, meat, chicken and birds.
Launched on December 23, the event was attended by a number of diplomats who expressed their admiration for the festival as a distinctive marketing platform for the Qatari products. The festival also witnessed visits of a number of independent and private school students as well as a diverse audience.
Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti stressed that Mahaseel provides products not on a commercial basis, but in the form of recreational and educational activities for all ages, thanks to the content of the competitions and activities.
He added that Katara, through the Mahaseel Festival, has sought to achieve sustainability in the agricultural sector and provide self-sufficiency and support food security in the country by providing several products such as vegetables, fruits, honey, poultry, dairy products, cheese, natural juices as well as natural flowers including roses.
He thanked the Ministry of Municipality and Environment for its efforts to support the festival. He also thanked all the owners of the farms and companies who participated for the second year in a row in Mahaseel Festival and said that their participation confirms confidence in the importance of Katara's role in introducing local products at Mahaseel as a form of
entertainment and education.
The festival also featured workshops and lectures on agriculture, beekeeping and healthy nutrition, which included how to store vegetables and fruits, the cultivation of home gardens, various competitions and workshops for children.
Mahaseel also hosted many local companies specialising in the production of dates, milk and its derivatives and natural juices including, Arab Qatari Dairy Company (Ghadeer), Dandy Dairy Company of Qatar, Al Rawda Dairy Company and Baladna Company.
In its quest to integrate the festival's message, Katara organised a number of workshops for children where they made clay vegetables and fruits, and did colouring and painting.
