Turkey outraged at Greece's granting political asylum to officer
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- Turkey on Saturday voiced outrage at Greece's decision to grant political asylum to a Turkish Army officer who fled the country during last year's futile attempt to bring down the government.
Affirming that the move will undermine bilateral relations, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Greece "has revealed anew that it is a state that protects rebels." Athens, by hosting the officer along with seven others, has obstructed Ankara's bids to bring them to justice, the official statement said.
"The politically motivated Greek decision will jeopardize the bilateral relations and the mutual cooperation at the regional level," it added. (pickup previous) rs.rk
