AIPU chief denounces terror attacks in Egypt

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) Habib El-Malki strongly condemned the two terrorist attacks on a Coptic church in Helwan, south of Cairo, and the Egyptian army in North Sinai.

With profound regret and shock, the Union received the news of the deadly attacks on Mar Mina Church and the Egyptian military two days ago, El-Malki, also speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, said in a statement on Friday night.

These despicable crimes were committed by coldblooded terrorists in contravention of humanitarian and moral values, according to the statement of which KUNA received a copy.

El-Malki expressed the Union's support to, and solidarity with, the Egyptian government in the fight against terrorism.

Beirut has been the seat of the AIPU Secretariat since 2013. (end) ayb.gb
