Australian rugby athlete Hunt charged with drugs possession


(MENAFN) Following his detainment in Brisbane, Australian rugby union idol Karmichael Hunt has reportedly been charged with drugs possession.

Broadcaster ABC reported the arrest of the Wallabies athlete together with another man to have occurred Saturday when a white powder was discovered with them, while Rugby Australian (RA) confirmed that an investigation by them has been launched.

The rugby star is reportedly out on bail and is scheduled on 29 January to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court.

Rugby Australian declared in a statement that it had been "made aware of an incident involving Wallabies and Queensland Reds back Karmichael Hunt in Brisbane". It continued "Rugby Australia takes all matters relating to the off-field behaviour of its players seriously and has commenced an investigation into the incident in conjunction with the Queensland Rugby Union."
