Chief of staff meets Ethiopian PM


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Prime Minister of Ethiopia Hailemariam Desalegn yesterday met HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem, who is currently visiting Ethiopia. During the meeting, which took place in Addis Ababa, they reviewed areas of co-operation, particularly in the military field, in addition to developments in the region. Major General Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem also met with the Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian Army Major General Samora Yunis.
The discussions dealt with issues of mutual interest, particularly ways to strengthen military co-operation. The meetings were attended by Qatar's ambassador to Ethiopia Abdulaziz Sultan al-Rumaihi.

Qatar condemns attack on Egyptian church
Qatar yesterday expressed its deep condemnation of an attack targeting a church in Helwan, south of the Egyptian capital Cairo. The attack claimed the lives of at least 9 people and injured several others. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed, in a statement released yesterday, Qatar's firm position rejecting terrorism regardless of its motives and reasons. The statement also expressed the condolences of Qatar to the families of the victims and to the Egyptian people, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. In Cairo, Health ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed told state television that the gunman was shot dead after he killed nine people and wounded others, including a police officer.
