Egypt arrests church attack committer

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Dec 29 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Ministry of Interior on Friday announced that its personnel wounded and arrested Ibrahin Moustafa, the person who attacked a church in Helwan, south of Cairo.

The ministry added in a statement that the attacker, a worker, is considered a dangerous terrorist fugitive.

It noted that the assaulter was the leader of members who targeted a vehicle belonging to a police station in Helwan in 2016, killing eight policemen.

Moustafa committed individually several terrorist acts which led to the killing and injuring of some citizens in Beni Seuf, Giza, and Cairo governorates, the statement made clear.

An initial technical examination showed that the seized weapon owned by the attacker was similar to the one used in previous terrorist acts, the statement said.

Security forces tasked with safeguarding Mar Mina Church injured the assailant, arrested him and seized some explosives and weapons. Some people were killed in the attack. (end) asm.mmj.hm
