Omani honey market to begin today


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The ninth Omani Honey Market will begin at the Muscat Grand Mall (MGM) on Thursday under the patronage of H E Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Bakri, Undersecretary for Agriculture in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF).

The event will conclude on Sunday.

'Some 32 apiarists from across the country will take part in the market. The four-day market is being organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries,' Eng Salih Mohammed al Abri, director general of Agricultural Development in MoAF told Muscat Daily.

'The ministry seeks to support small and medium enterprises specialised in the production of honey, apiculture, and sale of bee breeding accessories. It aims to find more outlets to promote Omani honey known for its high quality and nutritional value and highlight one of the most important products in the agricultural sector.'

He added, 'The market allows visitors to know different types of honey such as Sidr honey, wild honey and Al Sumar.

'The eighth Omani Honey Market last year saw more than 1,600lt of honey worth RO50,000 being sold.'
