Jordan- Responding to Trump's EscalationBy Fahed Khitan

According to Israeli national television Channel 10, the White House is no longer interested in Trump's so-called 'Deal of the Decade solution for Palestine, after the Arab and Palestinian reaction to his declarations, recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

In fact, the US government just purchased a property in Jerusalem for the purpose of relocating the embassy.

Not long ago, Israeli media announced that Trump is actually considering pushing for further provocative decisions of the sort, like recognising Israel as a Jewish state, revoking the Palestinians' right to return. Of course, these impositions are not subject to negotiation, apparently.

That said, escalations of the sort will not only burn the bridges of negotiation, already under significant strain after the US decision to relocate the embassy. It threats to put the entire peace process to the grave.

More dangerously, it will create a political vacuum that allows for Netanyahu's government to carry out its Judaisation and territorial integration schemes. News coming in from Israel reaffirm these suspicions, as the Israeli Likud party prepares to vote on the bill to integrate the entire West Bank and the occupied city of Jerusalem. Then, the bill well put to a vote at the Knesset.

Meanwhile, the executive Israeli branches are already preparing blueprints for the construction of one million settlement units in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Next year will see crucial and fatal transmutations in the status of the Palestinian Cause, which could derail the entire region.

After years of waging endless wars on terror, the Palestinian Cause is back centring the scene. Naturally, this opens the future of the region to an endless array of possibilities.

Arab-American ties are undergoing dangerous shifts towards a crisis that could spiral out of control, if not pre-empted with political steps by the Americans.

So far, the Arab League has not formulated a unified platform or agenda to face all these developments. In the absence of a unified framework, there could time to put the recent Arab foreign ministers' decisions to action, with current unfolding!

Alas, considering the current state of Arab affairs, the best we can do is mitigate the losses caused by US bias, by reinforcing the Palestinian apparatus and empowering it to face what is yet to come!

Of course, this cannot be attained without the proceedings of National Reconciliation. A whole lot of funds need to be allocated to finance the Palestinians' stand in occupied territories, particularly Jerusalem, and back the Hashemite Custodianship of religious endowments there.

Internationally speaking, every Arab option should be capitalised, diplomatic and otherwise, to prevent recent and upcoming US decisions from becoming reality.

Arab states should consider issuing a warning to the stats engaged in negotiations with Israel to relocate their embassies, regardless their international status.

Jordan is spearheading the battle for Jerusalem and the Palestinian people. The Arab World, nay the entire world should rally to its aid!

Maybe the alternative to the absence of the US presence on our side could be substituted by going to the UN again to take responsibility for the implementation of its resolutions.

As small a chance as it is, it is our only chance to protect Palestine.
