Leading retailer Salam Stores has announced that it is marking its 65th anniversary with a brand refresh, now including new and contemporary elements, and a series of celebrations following Qatar National Day.
Intrigued by the long-stemmed ‘national flower of Qatar,' the brand 'links its new insignia of the ‘Qataf' flower with the timeless story of a young visionary man who succeeded in transforming a small and budding business into a full-fledged international success, according to a press statement.
Speaking about the significance of the campaign, Salam International chairman Issa Abdul Salam Abu Issa explained how Qatar's national flower, ‘Qataf', has been adopted as the new emblem of a business 'whose mission is to establish quality retail environments that offer the ultimate shopping experience.
'As an organic thread woven within the Qatari community, and in line with Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030 to propel the Qatari economy forward, we are always striving to expand our horizons, explore new territories and contribute in pinning Qatar as a leading lifestyle destination, he said. 'As we celebrate another National Day, we take pride in our truly Qatari journey and roots, when my father, the late Abdul Salam Abu Issa, a keen local photographer, opened his first studio and film processing in Doha in 1952. Shortly after, we became one of the main contributors in scripting Qatar's retail history.
'The ‘Qataf' flower carries deep emotional meaning for us as we continue to advance my father's legacy in offering our customers a memorable, engaging and fulfilling ‘Salam Experience'. We regard this flower as our companion on life's path from one small store to today's leading retail position. We went from a single blossom on a stalk to a thriving business bearing the fruits of successful partnerships, multiple branches, innovative concepts, new ventures and above all content and inspired customers.'
Heading the 65-year legacy forward, Salam International deputy chief operations officer Abdulsalam Issa Abu Issa said: 'Appealing, strong and of great benefit, ‘Qataf' is a most appropriate symbol for Qatar, its prosperity and perseverance. We chose this resilient plant to illustrate the living relationship between traditions and the constant push to evolve while still proudly carrying our heritage. It is symbolic of our progressive nature and our constant yearning to stand tall as we grow with Qatar's expanding economy and future.
In contributing to the pillars of QNV2030 and inspired by its heritage, Salam Stores has grown to become a fashion hub for local designers - offering a platform for young and emerging designers to nurture their innovations and benefit from a long-serving retail organisation, the statement notes.
Future expansion plans are focused within Qatar to better develop and serve the needs of its diverse community, generate job opportunities and open doors for emerging markets to flourish, it adds.
