(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A man posed as a policeman and forced a tourist into his car before sexually abusing her, the Dubai Court of First Instance heardon Tuesday. The 24-year-old Filipina visitor, who was staying at her aunt's place in Al Rashidiya, was throwing the garbage when the 31-year-old Omani defendant pulled up before her.
He showed her what he claimed was a police ID. After forcing her to get into his car's passenger's seat and driving off to a sandy area, the man touched her inappropriately and sexually abused her.
The visitor also told prosecutors that he tried to rape her, but failed when she resisted him and started crying. After dropping her back, she went to the police station with her aunt to report the incident.
Appearing before the courton Tuesday, the accused denied the charges.
A sergeant had told the prosecutors that the woman identified the accused from among other suspects at the police station. The sergeant had also said the accused denied the charges during his interrogation. The trial was adjourned toJanuary 16.
