Royal Navy: UK frigate escorted Russian warship through North Sea
(MENAFN) The Royal Navy announced that on Christmas Day, a Russian warship had been accompanied by a British frigate through the North Sea in close proximity to UK waters.
HMS St Albans had kept an eye on the Admiral Gorshkov's "activity in areas of national interest," although no statement on the matter had been released by Russia.
There had been a new "upsurge in Russian units transiting UK waters," the Royal Navy stated, noting that Britain notified earlier of a recent Russian threat to internet cables underwater.
