(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Sharjah Police on Monday called on the security agencies to monitor and report any suspicious and illegal activities in the residential, commercial and industrial areas to curb crimes.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Colonel Ibrahim Al Ajill, director of the criminal investigation and search department, said that as part of the newly launched project 'Sharjah is safe city', the criminal investigation department (CID) has instructed them to cooperate with the police in achieving the goal of reducing the number of crimes. "Security guards who are assigned in residential or commercial buildings can play a great role in monitoring suspicious movements and illegal practices that could threaten the safety and security in areas around the buildings they are working for."
He cited an example of a robbery that took place in one of the national banks in the emirate despite having two security guards in the adjacent buildings of the bank. "If they employ security personnel inside and outside their buildings, they could have averted the robbery or informed the police immediately when a robbery takes place.
Col. Al Ajill added: "We discuss with them possibilities to find appropriate solutions through coordination to handle suspicious cases with the security authorities."
The security companies were told to hire well-trained people with good conduct and clean criminal records to ensure efficient services that would contribute to safety and security. Col. Al Ajill said they were also urged to comply with the necessary procedures of Ministerial Decision No. 557 of 2008.
