Oman's refinery output rises 15% in November


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Total production of Oman's refineries and petroleum industries units rose 14.6 per cent at the end of November 2017 compared to the output recorded during the same period of last year, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The statistics showed that the production of regular grade petrol (Mogas 91) surged 62 per cent to 9.53mn barrels at the end of November 2017 from the same period a year ago. Domestic sales of Mogas 91 rose 33 per cent to 7.29mn barrels while exports reached 1.59mn barrels.

Production of Mogas 95, however, declined 16 per cent to 13.55mn barrels, as the sales for this grade of petrol fell 17 per cent to 13.57mn barrels.

Production of diesel increased 14 per cent to 22.64mn barrels, but its domestic sales fell seven per cent to 14.95mn barrels while exports increased by 70 per cent to 6.83mn barrels.

Jet fuel production in Oman rose 38 per cent to 6.48mn barrels. Domestic sales of jet fuel increased by eight per cent to 4.43mn barrels and its exports also increased 66 per cent to 1.59mn barrels.

The sultanate's production of the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) till end of November rose 55 per cent to 4.48mn barrels. Domestic sales of LPG rose six per cent to 2.1mn barrels while its exports jumped 87 per cent to 2.35mn barrels.

Polypropylene production grew 98 per cent to 244,000MT. Domestic sales of polypropylene doubled to 22,000MT and exports also increased 96 per cent to 220,000MT. Paraxylene production declined by three per cent to 592,000MT, but its export registered an increase of six per cent to 602,000MT.
