Jordan- Cold front arrives Monday evening

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Dec.24 (Petra)-- Cloudy skies returned on Sunday, with a cold front generating a depression accompanied by thunder and lightening and patchy light showers in the northern regions, the Jordan Meteorological Department(JMD) said.

The cold and wet front accompanied by a depression centered over Cyprus deepens on Monday creating tangible drop in temperatures with rain across much parts of the country . Scattered showers of hail are also forecast early Tuesday on the highlands with westerly moderate to brisk winds.

A slight rise in temperatures is forecast on Tuesday, as the weather begins to stabilize at night, but it will remain relatively cold in most regions with clouds at low altitudes, the JMD added .

Daytime temperatures expected in Amman for today will reach 15 degrees Celsius, 14 degrees in the northern cities and 13 in the southern parts of the country, dropping down at night to 7, 8 and 5 respectively. Mercury levels in the Gulf of Aqaba will range between a high of 22 degrees and a low of 13, the JMD said.
