Crisis Charity raise concern over 'hidden' homeless people in UK

(MENAFN) A charity has pointed out that on Christmas Day, at least 9,000 people are guaranteed to wake up in cars, trains, buses and tents.

Crisis suggested that if "immediate action" wasn't carried out, the figure of homeless is to increase over the following decade by 47 percent to 13,400.

Rough sleepers are facing a risk of being "hidden from help and trapped in horrifying situations," Chief executive Jon Sparkes warned as the government assured it was dedicated by 2022 to cut down the issue in half and by 2027 to completely eradicate it.

"We are providing over 1bn euro through to 2020 to prevent homelessness and rough sleeping. We are also bringing in the Homelessness Reduction Act - the most ambitious legislation in decades that will mean people get the support they need earlier," as announced by a spokesman from the Department for Communities and Local Government.
