KUNA Editor: Coop. with Kuwait University vital to raise media awareness


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Dec 23 (KUNA) -- Cooperation between KUNA and the Kuwait University is vital to reinforce awareness of the prime importance of media in building and promoting the society, KUNA's Deputy Director General for Editorial Sector and Editor-in-Chief Saad Al-Ali said.

It is the base for preparing a new specialized, professional and competent generation on the media scene, Al-Ali said on Saturday, as a group of media students from the university concluded a three-month training course at KUNA's editorial sector.

Al-Ali noted that KUNA is keen on playing due role to consolidate the Kuwaiti media.

This happens through enhancing students' skills and capabilities to enable them to deal the best with the tools of the new media, he said.

Since KUNA was established, and became a leading media outlet, it has been assuming the responsibility of supporting young national cadres on the media scene, offering them professional training in line with the state of the art methods in the field, the KUNA Chief Editor stressed.

Educating them on the ethics of the profession is a crucial part of the training, he said.

KUNA embraced the Media Department of the Kuwait University since it was launched in the academic year 1992-1993, the batch that graduated in 1995-1996, head of the section Dr. Menawer Al-Rajhi said.

Students received training in the different sectors at KUNA, editing, photograph and public relations.

Over the years, KUNA officials and staff have lavished great efforts to train the students and allow them apply what they studied at university.

The students highly appreciated KUNA Board Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah and all the agency's staff who gave them the chance to benefit from the great media edifice.

KUNA's summer program comprised four consecutive courses for training students on journalism and media. (end) am.tb.msa
