Wall Street slips ahead of holiday

(MENAFN) Major indexes of Wall Street have dipped in low trading volume before the holiday weekend, as many blue-chip stocks dropped, including Nike.

Shares of Nike Inc have dropped 2.3% after the company estimated muted growth in current-quarter revenue, as a result of its struggles in the North American market.

Chief investment strategist at Janney Montgomery Scott in Philadelphia said: "It's been a strong week, whether the market is up a little bit or down a little bit is not indicative of larger trends ... It's easy to push things around when not many people are trading."

Volume on US exchanges was 4.81b shares, in comparison with the 6.98b average for the whole session over the last 20 trading days.
