ACCC case against Cussons dismissed

(MENAFN) The behavior case brought against laundry detergent manufacturer Cussons by Australia's consumer supervisory body has been dismissed by the Federal Court.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has started the case 4 years ago, claiming that PZ Cussons Australia was involved in cartel conduct by planning with Colgate and Unilever to stop supplying standard concentrate laundry detergents in early 2009 and instead supply only ultra-concentrated products.

The court has dismissed the cartel and the ACCC' accusations that the company has reached an agreement with the other manufacturers that substantially lessened competition in the laundry detergent market.

According to ACCC chairman Rod Sims, the supervisory body will carefully consider the judgement.
