Culture Minister issues decision to develop Saudi TV Channels

Riyadh, Rabi'II 04, 1439, December 22, 2017, SPA -- Within the framework of the plan to develop the sectors of the Ministry of Culture and Information and its affiliated bodies to coincide with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's vision 2030 and its elements for promoting of the television sector, the Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad issued a decision on yesterday to suspend the transmission of Saudi TV Channel 2 and authorizing the Radio and TV Corporation to prepare a plan for its developing in a way that meets the Kingdom's goals in addressing the world professionally, the decision also included the integration of Al-Eqtisadiah Channel with Al-Ekhbariya Channel to support the economic side in its programs.
In this regard, the Minister's decision came to transform Al-Thakafiyah Channel into a public channel and develop its content in a way that meets the aspirations of Saudi viewers. Saudi TV is expected to witness significant changes in programs and coverages in response to the developments in all sectors of this prosperous era.
