Patanjali named India's most trusted, attractive FMCG brand

In less than 12 years, Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved Limited has become India's most attractive and trusted Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) brand.

The Brand Trust Report India Study 2017 singled out Patanjali after analyzing 10,000 brands across 16 cities, ANI reported.

Ramdev's spokesperson SK Tijarawala shared the news on Twitter on Thursday.

Expansion


Patanjali was founded by Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna in 2006 with an aim to use ayurveda to create swadeshi health and wellness products.

Its growth in the last two years has been unprecedented. It jumped 26 places since 2016 to secure the 19th spot on Forbes Annual India Rich List for 2017.

It registered a turnover of Rs. 10,500 crore in last fiscal year.


Patanjali to also manufacture solar energy equipment
Projects


Though it started with healthcare products, Patanjali has now diversified into other sectors including education, food and energy.

It signed an MoU worth Rs. 10,000 crore with the Indian government in November at the World Food India 2017.

It is also planning to manufacture solar energy equipment and is investing Rs. 100 crore at a Greater Noida factory, which will be inaugurated in January.

Controversies


However, Patanjali's success story is riddled with controversies. Stories of substandard products, malpractices, corruption, flouting laws and exploiting labor abound its short history.

It has been found guilty on yet another count. A detailed report by India's Comptroller and Auditor General on the Clean Ganga project was tabled in the Parliament on Tuesday. It named Patanjali, among other companies, a major polluter.
