Man attempts suicide after throwing three children into river in Nowshera


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) NOWSHERA: A man attempted suicide after throwing his three children into Kabul River in Nowshera over a domestic dispute on Thursday evening.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Nowshera Kalan Zardad Khan told TNN that the man came at the bridge and jumped from the bridge after throwing his three children, two boys and a girl, into the river in Badarsha area. He said senior police officials and rescue staff arrived soon at the site and the father, Alamgir Khan, was rescued with the help of locals. He said the body of a three-year-old boy has also been recovered, while search for other bodies was underway. Alamgir was working in Kuwait and was in Nowshera on holidays.

Constable Abdur Rehman, who was performing duty at the bridge, said the man was roaming there for some time and then suddenly threw his children into the river and jumped from the bridge. He said Alamgir told investigators that he took this extreme step due to differences with his wife. Alamgir said his wife was not looking after his children well due to which he took this step.

Police said Alamgir seems to be stable mentally. He has been arrested and further investigations are underway.
