(MENAFN) Telstra is leading a group of large energy users that will buy renewable energy from a wind farm planned to be established in western Victoria.
The long-term deal, including ANZ, Coca-Cola Amatil and the University of Melbourne, allows construction on the 226-megawatt first stage of the Murra Warra wind farm near Horsham.
When it's completed, the wind farm is expected to generate more energy than any other wind farm currently operating in the southern hemisphere.
Executive director of Telstra Energy said by joining forces the group was able to achieve prices for energy and renewable certificates at levels under the current wholesale market prices.
