Oman- Bank Sohar supports Special Needs Walkathon


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- As part of its continuous support for social and community initiatives under its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme Sohar al Atta, Bank Sohar recently sponsored the special needs walkathon.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Social Development to commemorate International Special Needs Awareness Day and it falls among the bank's many community outreach and awareness generation programmes that prioritise giving back to the society. H E Dr Yahya Bader al Mawali, Undersecretary, Ministry of Social Development, inaugurated the walkathon held at Al Seeb Sports Stadium.

Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM HR and Corporate Support, Bank Sohar, said, 'Bank Sohar is a strong votary of social causes; we champion advocacy for initiatives that bring awareness to human interest issues and those that focus on enhancing opportunities for lesser privileged segments of the society. Right from inception, we have been actively engaged in numerous community welfare drives geared towards aid centres, charity and non-profit associations and social volunteer groups. We hope that our participation in this very important event will go a long way in building community support and creating empathy for differently-abled members of our society.'

Bank Sohar received a token of appreciation for sponsoring the event from H E Dr Mawali toAbdullah Hamad al Mahmoodi, chief manager, Events and Promotions, who represented Bank Sohar at the event and accepted the memento on behalf of the organisation.

Bank Sohar has been a stalwart supporter of the special needs walkathon for the past six years, playing a vital role in helping spread its message across the country. The initiative joins similar drives that the bank has conducted under Sohar al Atta. They range from assistance towards child care centres, associations devoted to disability causes, charity associations and much more.

Bank Sohar has supported over 30 organisations numerous times around the sultanate under its social responsibility programme to ensure that its contributions are carefully planned and evaluated in order to diversify and reach the maximum number of people, especially those in most need of it, offering recipients positive support and making a meaningful change.
