Qatar exempts residents of Hamad City in Gaza from 2018 Installments

Doha: In accordance with the directives of Emir H H sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar National Committee for the Reconstruction of the Gaza Strip Mohamed Al Emadi announced yesterday that the residents of Hamad City in Khan Yunis will be exempted from paying the monthly installments for 2018 in full.

Al Emadi said in a speech during the celebration of the Qatar National Day: "I am Happy to convey good news for the people of Gaza, in light of the difficulties they suffer, Qatar has decided to exempt the residents of Hamad City from the installments of the year 2018."

The National Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza organized a central celebration to mark the national day of the state on the land of the residential city of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

The ceremony was held yesterday in the presence of Mohamed Ismail Al Emadi, Chairman of the Central Committee, Khaled Al-Hardan, Ismail Haniyeh, Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas, Minister Maamoun Abu Shahla, Minister of Labor in the National Reconciliation Government and a number of ministers and faction leaders.

Ambassador Mohamed Al Emadi expressed his pride in celebrating the National Day of the State in the Gaza Strip.

In his speech, Al-Emadi stressed that the Qatari leadership is firmly committed to the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, reiterating its support for the Palestinian cause. He said that Qatar confirms its refusal to transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem, and to remain Jerusalem Arab and Islamic and the eternal capital of Palestine.

For his part, Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Political Bureau of Hamas, praised the positions of Qatar and its continued support to the Palestinian people and their cause, stressing pride in Qatar, "decision-maker and position, which protects sovereignty and independence of its decision and the determination of policies in the interest of the supreme state and the nation."

Haniyeh said that "Qatar has a position and a decision that we stand with towards the Palestinian people and it deals wisely with developments and the ability to absorb the enormous changes that are taking place in the region without losing the compass.

He also called for the revival of the Jerusalem support fund, which was previously proposed by Qatar at a previous Arab summit in Doha, to support the people of the holy city.
