Shrimps imports from India and Texas banned by Kuwait

(MENAFN) The imports of fresh, chilled, frozen and processed shrimps from India and Texas alike have been banned by the Kuwaiti authorities, according to Al Rai newspaper.

The ban came following the suspension by Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) last month of import of refrigerated and frozen shrimps from Texas State of the US due to the appearance of acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease.

Its decision was based on the warning issued by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) which includes the presence of cases of the disease in Texas, it said in a statement.
