Oman's football team leaves for Kuwait to take part in Gulf Cup


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman's football team on Tuesday left for Kuwait to participate in the 23rd Gulf Cup championship. The tournament will be held from December 22 to January 5.

H E Sheikh Saad bin Mohammed al Mardouf al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs, on Monday met the national team players at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.

Sheikh Salim al Wahaibi, chairman of the Oman Football Association (OFA) and members of the association, members of the technical and administrative bodies were also present during the meeting.

The Omani delegation is being led by the OFA chairman accompanied by council members and employees, in addition to the technical team.

The team left with high expectations of winning the title again after its maiden win at the 19th edition of the tourney that was held in Oman.

The national team went through a two-week training programme that included a friendly with the Yemeni national team.
