(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Dec 19 (KUNA) --The "Kuwait vision 2035" will foreground the private sector's backing to the national economy, and achieving sustainable development, said Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD) Dr. Khaled Al-Mahdi.
Talking to KUNA on the sidelines of the Internet of Things (IoT) Conference and Expo 2017, Al-Mahdi added that the governmental institutions and sectors are taking part in implementation of 90 percent of development projects in Kuwait.
The 2035 crystalizes the private efforts for backing the economy, and sets more effective policies for attracting foreign investments, he noted.
It aims to reduce the official contribution in projects to 30-40 percent, he stressed.
Referring to the Saad Al-Abdullah City, the first smart one in Kuwait, he said that work is proceeding. It is now in the design phase.
The city will be constructed as a partnership between the Kuwaiti Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) and the Korean Land and Housing Corporation, according to the GSSCPD Secretary General.
The GSSCPD's participation in conference is part of the strategies based on knowledge economy, he said.
Al-Mahdi noted that the major challenge facing them in the implementation of development plans, is related to technology and altering the culture of the human element at the government offices.
For his part, Director General of the Central Agency for Information Technology Qusai Al-Shatti, stressed CAIT's role in the implementation of the "Kuwait vision 2035." This role focuses on various aspects, mainly promoting the government management (the e-services sector) and developing the infrastructure for further use of application solution while dealing with the public.
The three-day Internet of Things (IoT) Conference and Expo 2017 seeks to shed light on the challenges and obstacles that come with the emerging new technology of IoT, which is projected to have substantial leading growth by the year 2020.
The technology is expected to play an integral part in a variety of sectors, such as healthcare, transportation, and services sector. (end) skm.ht.msa
