Kuwait by your side hands over project in Yemen's Hadramout

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, Dec 19 (KUNA) -- The "Kuwait by your side" relief campaign has handed over a power line for a water project in the town of Shibam, Hadramout Governorate, Yemen, after it was constructed. The project will help secure stable supply of drinking water for people in the town, the campaign said in a statement Tuesday.
Up to 60,000 people in the Shibam District will benefit from the project whose total costs hit YER 22 million (USD 90,000), the statement quoted the top official of the Authority of Water and Sanitation in Wadi Hadramout.
Director General Amer Al-Amri said that the newly established power line would help people a lot.
Praising Kuwait's major humanitarian role in Yemen, Al-Amri thanked the Kuwaiti-Yemeni Relief Agency for the projects that enhance the governmental authority.
Director of the power line project in "Kuwait by your side" Salim Bashmaha, said that it is the sixth of its kind the campaign has carried out in Hadramout.
It is one of the strategic projects to provide water security in the Governorate, he stressed.
In 2018, the campaign is planning several projects to provide water and other services in Hadramout. (end) mdm.msa
